Current Job: I’m currently working as a Foreign Rights Specialist for Nahdet Misr Publishing Group. My job responsibilities include: • Prepare offers to be presented to the foreign publishers including the pricing quotation from the printing press; • Negotiate with the foreign publishers on rights contracts; • Finalize the contracts with foreign publishers to have the licenses of copyrights (books, magazines, or stationery); • Request addenda for the expired contracts; • Fulfill the needs of foreign publishers; • Review the contracts of copyright purchase; • Review the copyright pages in accordance with the provisions of the contracts; • Request reading copies for evaluation; • Prepare for international exhibitions (select lists of books and shipping them to the exhibition; following-up with the marketing team in what is related to the advertising banners and promotional items); • Set appointments with foreign publishers to meet with in different exhibitions; • Book evaluation; • Scan the market for new publications, require reading copies, select what best serves the Egyptian market and the policy of the company; • Work on publication plans for big companies such as Disney and National Geographic; • Notify companies like Disney and National Geographic with the events of their products and provide them with pictures and samples of promotional materials; • Deliver books to be translated and electronic files sent from the foreign companies to the departments concerned; • Translate projects from English into Arabic and vice versa. Career History In 2009, I worked for Islamonline.net as an assistant editor for European Muslims Section for one year. My work included many tasks one of them was editing which was based on three major stages: • Assigning writers all over Europe to cover issues related to or affecting Muslims there; • Editing the materials based on the in-house style; • Publishing the material with some vivid pictures related to the topic on the Content Management Server (CMS). In addition, I had two other tasks: • Host some of the most acknowledged experts in different fields as well as posting discussion forums for the audience to express their opinions, both tasks also need proficiency with the CMS; • Based on my previous experience with translation, I render some texts coming from our non-English speaking correspondents. During this year, I've acquired great knowledge in media as I published tens of materials, conducted many live dialogues, recorded many audio files and compiled many photo-galleries about Muslims in Europe. For almost a year and half, I had worked for Hindawi Publishing Corporation as a copyeditor. It is a science-specialized organization where my main tasks were to • Proofread the basic information of the paper; • Check the correctness of Grammar, syntax, punctuation, spelling, and style conformity; • Contacting the authors to confirm the changes done to the paper as well as applying their own changes clarifying any ambiguity in the final document. After absorbing the basic knowledge in the field, I was promoted as a copyeditor team leader in Hindawi Corporation where my duties, in addition to those of a copyeditor, were to • Distribute materials among my team members; • Monitor their performance, present reports of performance evaluation; • Revise the materials copyedited by new comers; • Prepare administrative reports on the team's overall performance. During this period, I've accomplished good results meeting all deadlines set by my supervisors. Right after graduation, I worked as a translator in Dar Al-Farouk for Cultural Investment for half a year. During those early days of experience, I have acquired the necessary skills to manage in a workplace atmosphere. My job included translation from Arabic into English and vice versa, then revising the material after translation. Here are some of the books I translated: "The Good Research Guide";"What Every Woman Should Know about Fertility and Her Biological Clock"; and "Word-2007 for Dummies".
